Congress District President Akhilesh Yadav, accused of several serious sections including obstructing government work and making a deadly attack on magistrate and police officers, surrendered before the court. Additional Civil Judge (CD) III / ACJM Preeti Giri sent the accused Akhilesh Yadav to jail on Monday in judicial custody for 14 days.
Arjun Yadav was murdered in Bikapur area on June 7, 2022. The family of the deceased was angry with the murder and refused to cremate the deceased until the accused were arrested. After being persuaded by several policemen including Kotwali Bikapur’s Kotwal Sumit Srivastava, the family agreed to cremate the deceased.
At around 10:30 in the morning, the family members of the deceased reached Pipri Rampur Bhagan road with the body when 40-50 unknown people including Congress District President Akhilesh Yadav and District Panchayat member Rajmani Yadav arrived. They blocked the traffic by placing the body on the road. On receiving the information, three COs and police force from several police stations, SDM and Tehsildar of Bikapur also reached the spot.
It is alleged that Akhilesh Yadav and his companions attacked the police force. They behaved indecently with the passersby. In the attack, many policemen including SHO Sumit Srivastava, Inspector Virendra Pal, Jitendra Singh were seriously injured. The officers’ vehicles and the motorcycles parked nearby were damaged. A case was registered on the complaint of Sub Inspector Jitendra Pratap.
The police of Haiderganj police station is investigating the incident. Congress District President Akhilesh Yadav, accused in the case, surrendered in the court on Monday along with his supporters. From where he was sent to the divisional jail in judicial custody for 14 days.
