Ramnagari Ayodhya was beautiful on Sunday. Why not, it was the Tilakotsav of Lord Shri Ram. While a grand Tilakotsav ceremony was organized in Ramsevakpuram, Tretayug was seen coming alive in Ramnagari. Tilak was applied to Lord Shri Ram in a grand manner amidst the singing of Raghunandan’s tilak today. Nepal’s Madhesh Pradesh Chief Minister Satish Singh from the bride’s side and Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust from the groom’s side, completed the Tilakotsav ritual in the role of Dasharatha.

The Tilakotsav of Lord Shri Ram also seemed to give a new dimension to the Tretayugi relations between Ayodhya and Janakpur. Earlier, more than 300 Tilakhars from Janakpur had reached Ayodhya last night itself. He also attended Ramlala’s court on Sunday morning. After darshan and worship, everyone reached Ramsevakpuram to offer tilak. The ethos of Tilakotsav started here at exactly 3:27 pm. The groom Shri Ram was seated in the form of a child on the throne made on the stage, while Champat Rai was seated on a throne in the form of King Dasharatha. From the bride’s side, Chief Minister of Madhesh Pradesh, Nepal, Satish Kumar Singh and Mayor of Janakpur, Manoj Kumar Shah completed the Tilakotsav ritual.

Janakpur’s friends sang auspicious songs

Vedic Acharya of Karsevakpurak was chanting mantras and Pandits had also come from Janakpur. Here the ethos of Tilakotsav was taking place, on the other side the friends from Janakpur and the women of the groom’s side were singing auspicious songs. The friends of Janakpur also showered a lot of abuses. On the other hand, today in Awadhpur, happy songs like Chalo Sakhin Dekhan, Ram Lakhan Charo Bhaiya…, Siya Ji Bahanya Hamar, Ram Lagai Pahunwa… were also resonating. From the groom’s side too, a team of bhajan singers including Saint MB Das were adding to the joy of Tilakotsav by presenting bhajans. As soon as the Chief Minister of Madhesh Pradesh performed the ritual of Tilakotsav, fireworks were also set off, friends and women danced vigorously and chants of Jai Shri Ram were also heard.

The Tilakotsav ceremony was coordinated and conducted by VHP Union Minister Rajendra Singh. Mahant Shashikant Das, Mahant Jairam Das, former MP Lallu Singh, Ram Mandir Trust member Dr. Anil Mishra, construction in-charge Gopal Rao, trust office in-charge Prakash Gupta, former MP Lallu Singh, VHP’s Sharad Sharma, Sangh’s Ganga Singh, Madhesh Pradesh. Cabinet ministers Rajkumar Lekhi, Tribhuvan Shah, Shatrughan Singh, Sakil Ansari, Kaushal Kishore Rai also witnessed the ceremony.

501 types of gifts dedicated

After Tilak, the Chief Minister of Madhesh State handed over 501 gifts from Janakpur to the General Secretary of the Temple Trust, Champat Rai, who was playing the role of King Dasharatha. These gifts will be dedicated to Ramlala. Gifts include many types of clothes, jewellery, fruits, sweets, utensils etc. Tilakharu of Janakpur had also brought with him five traditional utensils like a bronze plate, two bowls, glass, spoon etc.

There is a bread-and-daughter relationship between India and Nepal. This relationship is centuries old. To fulfill this relation, Tilakharu has come to Ayodhya with Tilak from Janakpur.
