More than 500 delegates from Janakpur in the neighboring country participated in the Shri Ram Tilak Utsav in a grand ceremony organized in Ramnagari Ayodhya to strengthen the cultural and spiritual ties between India and Nepal. Temple officials said that people from Janakpur have brought gifts including gold, silver and traditional prasad. In fact, Janakpur, revered as the birthplace of Mother Sita, holds an important place in this tradition.
The delegation led by Nepal’s Madhesh Pradesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh and Janakpur Mayor Manoj Kumar Shah has brought 501 types of prasad. The ceremony was held at the VHP headquarters in Ramsevakpuram, where arrangements were made to welcome the Nepalese guests. The Tilak festival started with the recitation of Vedic mantras by Ram Roshan Das, the priest of Janaki temple in Janakpur.
VHP Vice President Rajendra Singh Pankaj said that arrangements were made for his stay in Karsevakpuram, Abhaydata Hanuman Ashram, Vivek Srishti, Mata Saraswati Devi Temple and Teerth Kshetra Bhawan in Ayodhya. The Nepalese delegation’s journey to the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple was accompanied by devotional songs, traditional dances and ceremonial musical instruments, concluding with sacred prayers and rituals. Let us tell you that after the installation of the idol of Ramlala in January 2024, for the first time the Tilak ceremony was performed in the newly constructed Ram temple.
Ram Mandir Trust spokesperson Omkar Singh said that the Ram procession will leave for Janakpur on November 26 and will reach there on December 3. The wedding ceremony will be held in Janakpur, Nepal on December 6 and the wedding procession will return to Ayodhya on December 10.
