The seven-day Saryu Mahotsav was inaugurated on the banks of Saryu on Thursday. While inaugurating the festival, Champat Rai, general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust, said that Maa Saryu was born before Ramji. Mahant Shashikant Das, the coordinator of the festival, said that the birth anniversary of Maa Saryu has been celebrated continuously for the last 12 years.
Various rituals will be performed as part of the programs. The birth anniversary of Maa Saryu will be celebrated on Saturday. A grand tableau will be decorated and a grand aarti of 5,051 lamps will be performed. Cultural programs will also be organized every day from 8 pm onwards.
