Ayodhya. Innocent patients are losing their lives every day after falling into the trap of brokers and being lured by cheap and good treatment. After losing their loved ones, the relatives get emotional and fight for a few days. Later, tired of the storms of the system, they too either compromise or sit at home. For a long time, such a game of death has been going on in small nursing homes opened in the streets of the district, but the department is not taking concrete steps.
There are about 184 nursing homes and clinics registered in the district under CMO. Most of these nursing homes are located in the lanes where patients are unable to reach on their own. For this, their agents gather in government hospitals. They deceive patients by pointing out the shortcomings of government hospitals and by giving them the false hope of better treatment in nursing homes at less cost. After taking them to the nursing home, they take their commission and disappear. In these hospitals, only cesarean delivery or other operation related treatment is the priority.
They convince the family members for the operation by telling them about all the risks. They also get a consent form filled by giving them all kinds of assurances and consolation. Then they call any doctor on call and get the operation done. The doctor who does the operation also meets the patient for the first time in the OT. He is also unaware of the complexities of the pregnant woman’s body during pregnancy.
After performing the operation and taking his share, he also disappears. After this, the entire responsibility of taking care of the patient is handed over to the unskilled health workers of the hospital. Later, when other complications related to the operation increase, specialists are not available on time. When the condition becomes critical, the patients die. Such cases have been coming up from time to time in the district, but they could not be controlled. No campaign was also run against these hospitals. On receiving complaints, the papers were just filled. As a result, the fearless hospital operators are not refraining from playing with the lives of the patients.
A look at the events that have taken place in the district
The physician performed the operation: Geeta Kanaujia, a resident of Usru Amuna, underwent a cesarean on October 2, 2022, in a nursing home located at Naka Durgapuri in the city. The woman gave birth to a dead newborn. After some time, the woman also died. When the family created a ruckus and a media trial took place, it was found that the hospital was illegal on the date of the operation. The doctor who performed the operation was registered as a physician in his own hospital. The hospital was sealed at that time, but later started operating again.
Woman died, police made her compromise: In May 2022, Tamanna (22), a resident of Kudwar Sultanpur, was admitted to a nursing home in Darshan Nagar by her parents. A doctor came from outside and operated on her. Later, the woman died. When the family complained to the police, a settlement was reached.
The woman died after delivery, the operator absconded: In July 2022, Muskan (30), a resident of Bhitoura, was taken to CHC Rudauli by her family. There, the doctor sent her to a private hospital in Khairanpur. The woman gave birth to twins there and a deposit of Rs 50,000 was made. Later, the woman died. When the family started creating a ruckus alleging negligence, the operator fled.
If a hospital calls a doctor from outside in an emergency, it is necessary to inform the CMO. If a hospital gets an operation done by someone other than an on-panel doctor without any information, it is wrong. Action will be taken against such people. -Dr. Sushil Prakash, Additional Director, Ayodhya Division
