Life Imprisonment To Wife’s Murderer – Ayodhya News


Ayodhya. A husband convicted of murdering his newly married wife in Khandasa police station area four years ago has been sentenced to life imprisonment. He has also been fined Rs 1 lakh. This verdict was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge 6th Prem Prakash in a crowded court on Tuesday.

According to the prosecution, the incident took place in Sarauli village of police station Khandasa area. Swaminath, a resident of Rasulpur Khurd of police station Rudauli area, married his daughter Savita to Suraj, son of Bechu Ram of Sarauli village on May 14, 2019. Savita’s mother-in-law Phoola Devi, sister-in-law Rupa, father-in-law Bechu Ram and husband were not happy with the dowry given in the marriage. They used to torture their daughter in various ways. On May 23, 2019, at 8 am, Suraj called and informed about Savita hanging herself. On the complaint of the deceased’s father, a case of dowry murder was registered against the husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law and sister-in-law in police station Khandasa.

The investigation removed the names of Bechu Ram and Phoola Devi and sent the charge sheet against husband Suraj and sister-in-law Roopa to the court. 10 witnesses from the prosecution side were presented in the court. The judge declared husband Suraj guilty on the basis of evidence present in the file and statements of witnesses and post-mortem report. Finding the incident to be inhuman and of serious nature, the judge sentenced the guilty husband Suraj to life imprisonment. An order has been given to give 80% of the fine amount to the parents of the victim. Whereas, since the sister-in-law, who is co-accused in the incident, is a juvenile delinquent, her file is pending in the Juvenile Court.
