Kameshwar Chaupal (68) was not the first Karsevak and a member of the Trust to have the first brick (Ramshila) for the construction of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, UP. He had long been suffering from kidney disease.

Chaupal, who hails from Qamil (Supaul) in Bihar, had the privilege of laying the first brick of the foundation of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple on November 9, 1989. He was associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and was a member of the Legislative Council.

He breathed his last at Gangaram Hospital in Delhi on Thursday night at the time of being admitted for treatment. His death has been mourned by Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, Trustee Dr. Anil Mishra, Treasurer Govind Dev Giri, Mahant Dinndra Das, Vimalandra Mohan Pratap Mishra and Gopal Rao.
