After SP in the by-election of Milkipur assembly constituency of Ayodhya, now internal discord seems to be coming to the surface in BJP also. Suraj Chaudhary, who was a candidate for ticket in SP, has entered the election field by taking ticket from Azad Samaj Party. At the same time, there are indications of internal strife due to the distance maintained by MLAs Gorakhnath Baba and Ramu Priyadarshi and the party’s District General Secretary Radheshyam Tyagi before the nomination of BJP candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan. Due to the internal turmoil between both the parties, the electoral equations of Milkipur seem to be changing day by day.

There was a long list of ticket contenders in BJP. Therefore, it was being speculated that after the announcement of the ticket, some contenders may change their tune. Gorakhnath Baba, who was elected MLA from BJP in 2017, lost the election in 2022 but was active in the area when the by-election opportunity came. Now his political future is in danger after being denied ticket in the by-election. His absence from the public meeting organized in Milkipur in support of the BJP candidate on Thursday till the nomination gave indications of internal strife. Whereas on Wednesday evening, Minister in-charge Surya Pratap Shahi himself reached the house of the former MLA after inviting him to come for nomination.
Despite the call of the minister in charge, former MLA Ramu Priyadarshi also did not attend the nomination meeting. The turmoil in the BJP seems to be coming to the surface due to the absence of ticket contenders including BJP District General Secretary Radheshyam Tyagi and many other contenders in the nomination. At the same time, after the announcement of the ticket, the three MLAs of the district Ved Prakash Gupta, Ramchandra Yadav and Dr. Amit Singh Chauhan did not congratulate Chandrabhanu on social media and the poster of the nomination of the candidate showed photos of many veterans including the three MLAs of the district. Due to his disappearance, discussions have started about factionalism in BJP also.
After the meeting of SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav, the unity of SP stalwarts was seen in the nomination of Ajit Prasad, son of MP Awadhesh Prasad, but ticket contender Suraj Chaudhary took a rebellious tone and contested the elections on Azad Samaj Party ticket. However, experts say that the tone inside the stalwarts of Milkipur, who show unity on stage and in public programs, is different. According to political analysts, the main contest is between SP and BJP. In such a situation, it remains to be seen who wins among the two parties struggling with internal strife.
