Why did potholes appear at many places on the newly constructed Rampath during pre-monsoon rains on two different days? This question is troubling everyone. To find the answer, we understood the technical flaws of this path from the Public Works Department which constructed it. Actually, the collapse of roads is the result of haste in work and poor engineering.
The reason for the collapse of Rampath in some places due to pre-monsoon rains has come to light. During the construction of this road, work was done very fast in some parts. In such a situation, after digging the pits, very little time was available for the natural process of the soil layers getting compressed. Therefore, now when there was heavy rain in two phases, the same process started again and potholes appeared on the road. At present, the Jal Nigam has filled all these potholes. In coordination with the Public Works Department, the sewer chambers built on the road are being monitored.

Executive Engineer Dhruv Agarwal said that there are many underground lines in Rampath. A deep sewer line has also been laid under the Amrit Yojana. Apart from this, many manholes have been made. During the construction of this path and other works, due to the speed of work at some places, there was less time for natural compaction of deep pits. This process is related to the gradual compression and stabilization of the soil layers of the pits, which not only increases the strength of these structures, but also ensures their long-term stability. In such a situation, the first two rains were up to 176 mm. That is why when water reached inside from the ground sources, the soil layers started getting compressed. Due to this, the road has sunk at some places.
Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam Anand Dubey said that after filling the potholes at all the seven places of Rampath with gravel and sand, permanent painting has also been done. The sunken roads near Police Line, Railway Station Mor and Chowk Ghantaghar have also been repaired. A pothole had again appeared at a place near the District Hospital after repair. This has also been repaired. Now all the sewer chambers are being monitored in collaboration with PWD. A team of junior engineers has been deployed for this.
