State Principal Secretary Transport L Venkateshwar Lu said that four highways connected to Ayodhya will be declared green routes in the coming time. Only electric vehicles will run for public transport on Prayagraj, Varanasi, Lucknow and Gorakhpur routes from here. Diesel vehicles will be gradually removed. 120 new electric buses will be purchased with 500 crores. 5000 other electric vehicles will be operated under the contract policy.

The Principal Secretary was talking to reporters here on Saturday. He said that the Transport Corporation has already purchased 100 electric buses. Before stopping the operation of diesel vehicles on the green route, electric vehicles will be arranged for the passengers travelling on those routes. Under the contract, better routes and bus stations will be provided for the operation of electric vehicles. Along with providing electronic ticket machines, the Transport Corporation officers will do the supervision. Those who pay higher fees to the Transport Corporation for these facilities will be provided the route.

According to the Chief Secretary, 13,000 passenger and 12,000 school buses in the state have various kinds of defects. The details of all these are recorded on the Vahan portal. After taking out its district-wise details, Chief Secretary Manoj Singh has directed the district administration and police department to take action. First communication will be done, then action will be taken. It will be expected that the owners of illegal vehicles should bring them into the category of legal vehicles, otherwise be ready to send them to the scrap center. Illegal vehicles will not be allowed to operate on the road under any circumstances.
