A departmental dispute has started over the collapse of Rampath at many places during the rains. The Public Works Department has held the Jal Nigam responsible for the collapse of the road. Meanwhile, the Jal Nigam has filled the potholes by putting gravel and sand at the places where the road had collapsed. Apart from this, preliminary repairs of other roads have also been done.
The torrential rain that fell all night on Saturday damaged many roads in the city. Apart from Rampath, Pushpraj Chauraha-Fatehganj and Chowk-Rikabganj roads were also included in this. Apart from this, the road collapsed badly at one place in Ashfaq Ullah Khan ward. Due to this, traffic was disrupted on Sunday. Rampath has been constructed by PWD, but when this road collapsed due to rain, the department blamed the Jal Nigam for it.
PWD Executive Engineer Dhruv Agarwal said that Rampath has sunk at those places where manholes have been made. Deep chambers of manholes were made while laying the sewer line by Jal Nigam. The road has been damaged at most of the places around this. In such a situation, Jal Nigam will get it repaired. The officials of the corporation were also informed about this by the department.
When asked about this, Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam Nagari Anand Dubey said that the road had caved in at some places near the manholes on Rampath. Water was also leaking from the storm water pipe in these pits. PWD has been informed about this. Also, the pits have been filled by putting gravel and sand and pressing it with a roller. Now in one to two days, the painting will be done by the contractor of PWD itself.
