Auspicious Tilak festival of Lord Shri Ram in Ramsevakpuram on 18th November… Tilakhars started arriving.


The auspicious Tilakotsav of Lord Shri Ram will be completed as per rituals in Ayodhya on 18th November at 2 pm. Some of the more than 300 Janakpur resident Tilakharus have started arriving since November 16. Arrangements have been made at Karsevakpuram, Abhaydata Hanuman Ashram, Vivek Srishti, Mata Saraswati Devi Temple and Teerth Kshetra Bhawan to accommodate the Tilakharus with respect and convenience. An 18-year-old youth dressed in the form of Ram will be seated on a square or throne made of dough on the stage being prepared in the Ramsevakpuram complex for the Tilak Utsav ceremony. Tilakharu of Janakpur will bring with him other utensils including five traditional utensils like bronze plate, two bowls, glass, spoon etc. Apart from this, yellow dhoti, gamcha, girdle (dada), turmeric lump, sandalwood lump (muttha), paddy, yellow rice, durva (doob grass), betel, cardamom, betel nut (pungi fruit), yajnopaveet (janeu), silver coins. Traditional items etc. will be presented to the form of Ram during the Tilak ceremony. Young Mahant Ramroshan Das of Janaki Temple Janakpur will play the role of Sita ji’s younger brother to offer Tilak to Shri Ram. Janakpur Madhesh Pradesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh will be present along with half a dozen of his ministers to witness this moment. Apart from this, Mayor of Janakpur Manoj Kumar Shah will be present along with other three mayors of Nepal as a special guest. Delicious potato tikki, papdi chaat, chickpea, rice, puri, mixed vegetable, raita, papad, halwa etc. have been arranged in the welcome meal of Tilakharus. Tilak will be applied amidst the chanting of mantras by Vedagya Acharyas. Also, a group of women from Ayodhya will sing traditional folk songs sung in Awadh region on Tilak.
