Due to rain, waterlogging occurred on Janaura main road. – Dialogue
Ayodhya. The two rains of pre-monsoon and the first rain of monsoon have exposed the development work and civic amenities in the city. The rains that started on Friday night have once again flooded the entire city. The old accumulated water had not even drained out and many areas of the city including Ayodhyadham were flooded again. It became difficult for people to come out of their homes. The arrangements for water drainage also appeared to be in shambles. The devotees coming from outside have faced the most trouble.
The old premises of Ayodhyadham station and the station road were filled with knee-deep water. Passengers were facing difficulty in going out and coming in. The problem has increased further due to the debris scattered on the railway station road due to road widening. At the same time, the situation in Jalwanpura has worsened. Water could be drained out from Jalwanpura only a day before.
Devotees faced problems due to waterlogging on Ramjanmabhoomi Path, the entrance of Ram Mandir. Devotees had to pass through the water. However, the quick response team of the Municipal Corporation here got rid of the waterlogging within an hour. There was mud on Ram’s Paadi as well.
These areas are most affected
Avadhpuri, Ashwanipuram, JBpuram, Saraswatipuram, Devkali, Teachers Colony, Dhaniram Ka Purwa, Naka, Kandhari Bazaar, Bachhda Sujanpur and many other neighbourhoods and colonies were the most affected. A large number of people from these areas could not go to work and duty on time. Traffic was disrupted due to waterlogging on the road from Rampath and Police Line to Pushparaj Chauraha. Arya Kanya Gali of Kandhari Bazaar was also overflowing in the morning. Gulabbari ground became a pond. Waterlogging increased further on the trisection and main road near Church Kund in Janaura. There was a lot of trouble in the movement of vehicles. People here also could not come out of their homes.
Water filled in Shriram Hospital
Waterlogging occurred once again in Shriram Hospital. Ultrasound and X-ray facilities were affected in the hospital. Ultrasound could not be done for any patient. Patients also faced problems due to power failure for four hours. The boundary wall of the hospital collapsed due to rain two days ago. Emergency, ultrasound and X-ray rooms were filled with mud and water.
The road caved in here. The Rampath in front of Sahabganj police post caved in during the night due to rain. The PWD and Jal Nigam team reached here immediately and started the work of filling the pit. Similarly, the road caved in in front of Adarsh School on Dhara Road. Repair work could not be started here till morning.
Monsoon starts strongly, 86.6 mm rain recorded in 12 hours
Monsoon knocked in full force in Ramnagari on Friday night at around 11:30 pm. The sky became cloudy and rain started with thunder and lightning. Light and moderate rain continued throughout the night. This continued till 11 am on Saturday. 86.6 mm of rain was recorded in the records in one go.
Where to release rainwater… this question stopped the relief
People panicked after seeing the waterlogging and called the Municipal Corporation control room and local councilors. At some places, arrangements were made to drain out water with pumps, but there was no relief till evening. At many places, such a situation arose that where should the water be drained from one place and dumped at another place? The teams engaged for drainage gave up as there was no alternative arrangement for this. That is, calls were heard in the control room and promptness was also shown to reduce waterlogging, but the situation on the spot could not bring relief to the people. At whichever empty place the teams made arrangements to release water, people would start protesting. Due to this, water could not be drained out quickly in many waterlogged areas.
