Ayodhya. Amidst the humid heat and scorching sun, the coolers and fans installed in the wards of the district hospital have become mere showpieces. Patients are suffering in the scorching heat in the hospital wards. Alternative arrangements have to be made to get relief from the humidity. The attendants are spending their nights sitting near the patients and fanning them with their hands.

When the Amar Ujala team inspected the district hospital on Thursday, the patients and their attendants were seen panting in the heat. There were two split ACs in the children’s ward, but they were blowing out hot air. The employees were busy repairing the ACs by climbing a ladder. The poor attendants were fanning their children with their hands. Divya Tiwari, a resident of Rozagaon, said that the AC-fan in the ward was not working. The child was already ill and this heat was making him even more upset.

Anwar Ali, a resident of Mughalpura, Haiderganj, was admitted in the medical ward suffering from diarrhea and fever. When the hospital fan did not work, the family brought a table fan from home and placed it on a stool and tried to give air to the patient. Caretaker Danish said that due to the excessive heat, he was having difficulty breathing. Therefore, alternative arrangements were made. Similarly, in other wards including surgical ward, new emergency, ENT, patients were seen fanning themselves with their hands.

-AC has been installed in the ward of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, where there is relief. There is a problem due to lack of AC in other wards. All the coolers and fans have been repaired but due to the heat, this problem has increased. -Dr. Uttam Kumar, Chief Superintendent, District Hospital
