After 17 years, such an opportunity has come again in Ayodhya district when the son, who was the father’s MP, is contesting to become an MLA. In the 2007 assembly elections, when Mitrasen Yadav was MP, his son Anandsen became MLA. This time too, when Awadhesh Prasad becomes MP, his son is the candidate for the assembly. Only the future will decide whether the Sen family’s record will remain intact in this prestigious election or whether 2007 will be repeated.

In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, Mitrasen Yadav, a prominent leader of the district from Bahujan Samaj Party, became MP for the third time from Faizabad parliamentary seat. After that, in the assembly elections held in 2007, his son Anandsen Yadav contested from Milkipur Assembly from BSP and was elected MLA.
He also got the status of Minister of State in the BSP government. Since then, this seat was declared a reserved seat and in 2012, Awadhesh Prasad was elected MLA from SP. In 2017, Baba Gorakhnath of BJP became MLA by defeating Awadhesh Prasad of SP, but he lost to Awadhesh Prasad in the very next election.
Awadhesh Prasad has become MP from Faizabad parliamentary seat in the Lok Sabha elections held in 2024. In such a situation, by-election is being held on this vacant seat. This time SP has fielded MP’s son Ajit Prasad. He filed his nomination on Wednesday. Due to direct fight, BJP has tried its best. In such a situation, the fight has become quite interesting. SP rebel Suraj Chaudhary from Azad Samaj Party is also in the fray.
