Tax Evasion Of Rs 59 Lakh Caught In 37 Vehicles Loaded With Steel – Ayodhya News


Ayodhya. The State GST Flying Squad launched a campaign in August to catch tax evasion in vehicles loaded with iron and steel and achieved great success. Tax evasion was detected in 111 vehicles during the inspection of 4,227 vehicles during the month. Out of these, 37 vehicles were loaded with iron and steel, from which the teams have deposited Rs 59 lakh in the department.

In the Ayodhya zone of State GST, five teams of the flying squad stop goods-laden vehicles on highways and other routes and check them. In August, these teams were given the target of checking 2700 vehicles. If tax evasion was found, Rs 2 crore was to be deposited in the department. In comparison to this, the teams have checked 4,227 vehicles from different areas. During this, tax evasion was detected in 111 vehicles in different ways and Rs 1.51 crore was recovered from them.

Of these, 51 vehicles were loaded with sensitive goods, from which Rs 77.68 lakh was collected. Whereas, Rs 36 lakh was collected from 10 vehicles loaded with pan-masala, Rs 7.74 lakh from one vehicle loaded with betel nut, Rs 34 lakh from nine vehicles loaded with tobacco after tax evasion was detected. These vehicle owners have also been directed not to evade tax in future and to deposit tax in national interest.

Additional Commissioner Grade-1 Arvind Kumar said that attempts are still being made to evade taxes in iron steel, pan-masala products etc. Teams have been instructed to curb this. In the interest of the country, people should cooperate in the development and progress of the country by paying taxes honestly while avoiding action.
