Ayodhya. Two brothers Jagannath and Ram Avtar have been sentenced to six years of imprisonment in a case of murderous attack in a dispute over residential land. Along with this, a fine of seven thousand rupees each has also been imposed on both the brothers. This decision was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge 6th Prem Prakash on Friday.

According to the prosecution, the incident took place on February 16, 2014 at 12 noon. Jagannath, Awadhesh and Ram Avatar of the same village started forcefully occupying the inhabited land in front of the house of Vijay Kumar Yadav, a resident of Gosai ka Purwa in the Haiderganj police station area. When Vijay Yadav tried to stop them, they attacked him with sticks and rods. His brother Ajay, who came to rescue him, was also beaten up. Based on the information given by Vijay Yadav, a case was registered in NCR under the section of assault in the Haiderganj police station.

After investigation on the orders of the court, a charge sheet was presented in the court against Jagannath Yadav, Awadhesh Kumar Yadav and Ram Avatar for the crimes of murderous attack, abuse and assault. Seven witnesses from the prosecution side were produced in the court. The judge declared Jagannath Yadav and Ram Avatar guilty on the basis of the statements of the witnesses and the evidence on the file. The judge sentenced the convicted accused Jagannath Yadav and Ram Avatar to four years simple imprisonment and a fine of five thousand rupees for the crime of murderous attack, one year imprisonment and a fine of 1000 rupees for the crime of abuse and one year imprisonment and a fine of 1000 rupees for the crime of assault. All the punishments will run simultaneously.
