The police have registered a case against the Bhadarsha Nagar Panchayat chairman and two Samajwadi Party leaders in the Purakalandar police station area of Ayodhya district for threatening and pressurizing them to settle the matter with the accused of raping a girl.
In the FIR lodged, Ramsevak Das, a resident of Bharatkund Pipra in Purakalandar police station area, said that chairman Mohammad Rashid, SP leader Jai Singh Rana and another person reached the district women’s hospital and at around 11 pm, began pressuring the family members of the rape victim, admitted in the private ward, to settle the case.

They also threatened to kill him if he did not reconcile. City police chief Ashwani Pandey said that a case has been registered against the accused leaders on the complaint of Ramsevak Das. The matter is being investigated.
