Bhaskar’s death in the custody of Uttarakhand Police on Friday night has put the role of the police of two states along with the arresting team under suspicion. The police officers of the district are not unanimous on the timing of the youth’s arrest and his death. Since the arrest, the police, doctors and family members have been giving different statements. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Police crossed the boundaries of not one but three police stations with Bhaskar after the arrest, but did not inform the local police.

On Friday night, Bhaskar Pandey (32), a resident of Mahulani Birdpur in Siddharthnagar district, died in Uttarakhand police custody. In this case, the family members had accused the Uttarakhand police of murder. Although the post-mortem report confirmed the death to be due to a heart attack, the district police is seen playing a supportive role even after the death in police custody. They are endorsing the Uttarakhand police’s claim and avoiding the National Human Rights Commission’s investigation. But in Amar Ujala’s investigation, police officers were seen getting entangled in their own statements. This is giving rise to suspicion.
