Saryu has reached 3 cm below the danger mark. The water level is decreasing but now there is a flood of problems. The victims are facing a food crisis. Many families are eating only once a day. School children are going to study by boat taking risks. There is a crisis of fodder for animals. Infectious diseases are spreading rapidly.
The water level of Saryu was recorded at 92.70 meters at 6 pm on Saturday evening, which is three cm below the red mark of 92.73 meters. With the decrease in water level, the danger of erosion is increasing rapidly. More than 12 villages of Purabazar of Sadar tehsil are still surrounded by flood. According to the Pura Bazar representative, water is still around the houses in Salempur, Pipri Sangram, Urdahwa, Pure Chetan village. Flood affected families Bhola, Jwala, Shankar, Rampal, Chandrapal, Gangasharan etc. say that as soon as the water level decreases, the crops have started rotting and falling. Due to which there is a crisis of fodder for the cattle.
Shivram Nishad said that children have to be dropped off and picked up from Mudadih Primary School by boat every day. Flood victims say that they are eating only once a day. They spend the rest of the day eating laiya and chana. ADM Finance and Revenue Mahendra Singh said that flood affected areas are being monitored 24 hours a day. Relief material is also being distributed.
Boatmen are charging arbitrary fare
After the flood waters receded in Rudauli tehsil area, pictures of devastation have started to emerge. Water has filled on the connecting roads. Boats are the only means of transportation. Boatmen are charging arbitrary fares. 15 thousand population of Rudauli is affected by the flood. Most of the 99 families of Kaithi Manjha in Rudauli tehsil are affected by the flood. Vivek Kumar, a resident of Manjha, says that due to the fear of rising water level, they have camped on the roof of the house. Children’s studies are disrupted. There are problems in cooking food. We are cooking food only once. The biggest problem is of toilets. Ram Kumar says that due to floods, income has stopped. Malti and Bhagwati Devi say that due to lack of electricity, darkness prevails in the villages. Radheshyam says that the water filled in the houses is slowly draining out. There is mud all over the house and courtyard. Fuel has got wet. Work is going on by cooking food once a day. Roads are filled with water. Due to which it is difficult to go out of the village. Poisonous creatures like snakes and scorpions also keep roaming around.
The MLA distributed relief materials to the flood victims
Rudauli MLA Ramchandra Yadav distributed flood relief kits on behalf of the administration to 100 flood-affected families of village Kaithi Manjha in Rudauli tehsil area at Raunahi embankment near village Pasta Mafi. Relief material kits included lentils, roasted gram, jaggery, flour, rice, arhar dal, turmeric, chilli, vegetable masala, mustard oil, salt, matchsticks, candles, biscuits, potatoes, soap, jerrycan and tarpaulin. During this, SDM Rudauli Praveen Kumar Yadav, Tehsildar Rajesh Kumar Verma, CO Rudauli Ashish Nigam were present.
