Ayodhya. Due to 48.8 mm rainfall, many roads, lanes, mohallas and colonies of the city along with Lucknow-Gorakhpur highway were flooded with water. All the drainage systems failed. In such a situation, water entered the houses at many places. Reedganj-Devkali and Raipur road caved in. The potholes on the road were filled up by putting gravel in a hurry.

It rained heavily all night on Saturday and again till Sunday morning. Due to this, many areas of the city were submerged. It seemed as if a river was flowing on the highway near Mahobara. Vehicles had to pass through this water. Similarly, water stagnated at some places on Rampath and Dharmapath.

Due to the sudden collapse of Raiganj road in Ayodhya Dham, a tempo got stuck in it and traffic was disrupted. Passersby and local residents pushed it out.

Many other roads of the city also got flooded in the rain. There was a lot of waterlogging on Post Office Road, Arya Kanya Gali, Kandhari Bazaar Road, Devkali-Fatehganj Road and Mahila Hospital-Fatehganj in front of Ayodhya Kotwali.

People had to face problems while travelling on these routes. Water remained filled from morning till afternoon. After the heavy rain stopped in the afternoon, the water gradually decreased. Due to the rain, along with the highways, roads and streets, many mohallas and colonies also got waterlogged.

This includes Saptasagar Colony, Kaushalpuri Colony Phase-2, Mahajani Tola, Avadhpuri Colony Phase-2, Shivnagar, Hanuman Nagar, Mangal Pandey Ward and Thatharhiya Mohalla. In Mahajani Tola, water even entered people’s homes.

The situation has worsened in low lying areas which are already facing the problem of waterlogging. Prominent among these are Janaura, Saraswatipuram, Adarshpuram, Shakti Vihar Colony, Devkali Village and Gaddopur.

Crops benefited, waterlogging caused trouble

The paddy and sugarcane crops have benefited from the continuous rain for the last two days. Drying crops have become fresh. At the same time, the rain has flooded the Bikapur Tehsil, Community Health Center, Electricity Sub-Centre, Block Education Officer and Sub Post Office premises. While waterlogging in many schools of the area will affect the studies of children. Due to lack of drainage system, there is a possibility of increase in mosquito infestation due to mud and waterlogging. Dr. Sant Kumar Maurya of CHC Bikapur said that in the last two days, many suspected patients suffering from snakebite and scorpion have come to the hospital.

The residents of Kaushalpuri Colony Phase-2 have lost their patience as there has been no solution to the waterlogging problem for many days. On Sunday, the residents of the colony along with their family members protested against the Municipal Corporation. Shalini Saxena said that there is a problem in movement due to the dirty rainwater. Whereas the zonal camp office of the Municipal Corporation is also located here. The vacant plots of the colony are filled with water. People are in panic due to the appearance of poisonous animals every day. Amit Diwakar, Shamsher Bahadur Singh, Sachin Srivastava, Anoop Singh, Dr. Ram Kishore, Binda Saxena, Priyanshu Singh, Ruchi Yadav, Chandrashekhar, Vaibhav Singh, Sachin, Rajkumari, Sunny Srivastava and Ankit were present during the protest.

The water level started decreasing, the danger of erosion started increasing

The water level of Saryu has started fluctuating. In the last 24 hours, the water level of Saryu has decreased by 16 cm. Saryu is currently 28 cm away from the warning mark. On the other hand, the danger of erosion has started looming in the coastal areas. People have started looking for safe places, although there is no situation of migration right now.

Due to the continuous rain in the mountains, the flow of Saryu river has increased. However, in the last 24 hours, the rise in the water level of Saryu river has stopped. Amit, an employee of Central Water Commission, said that the water level of Saryu river was recorded at 91.45 meters at 4 pm on Sunday evening.

The water level of Saryu was recorded at 91.61 meters at 4 pm on Saturday. In the last 24 hours, a drop of 16 cm has been recorded in the water level. He predicted that the water level of Saryu may increase once again in the next 12 hours.

Every year, 510 families of 12 villages are affected by floods. The villages of the coastal areas of Rudauli, Sohawal and Sadar tehsil are affected by floods. Hundreds of acres of crops of these villages also get destroyed. On the other hand, there is a problem in performing last rites due to the submergence of the cremation ground.

ADM Administration Amit Kumar Singh says that there is no flood like situation right now. Preparations to deal with the flood have been completed. Flood posts have been alerted. The flood situation is being monitored 24 hours a day.
